The Downtown Manhattan Heliport charges a $40 facility fee per person, paid at check-in. Whether the fee is included in your booking depends on the operator (HeliNY, Zip, Charm, Manhattan Helicopters), not the booking site you use. Most operators do NOT include it — you pay it on top at the heliport. HeliNY combines it with a fuel surcharge for $45 total. Flights from Westchester, Linden or Essex County have no such fee.
No. The Downtown Manhattan Heliport is closed on Sundays for sightseeing tours. If you need to fly on a Sunday, depart from Linden, Essex County, Kearny or Westchester — these heliports are open seven days a week.
Most operators have a 275 lb / 125 kg per-person limit. HeliNY is stricter at 250 lb / 113 kg on its Bell 407 fleet. Above the limit, you need a "comfort seat" or extra seat (surcharges vary: HeliNY $99 / $149 / $249, other operators typically $99–$150). HeliNY weighs all passengers at check-in and assigns seats by weight for flight balance.
Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. In summer: light clothing plus a light jacket (the cabin is air-conditioned). In winter: layers and a scarf. Avoid hats or loose accessories near the rotor area — they can become projectiles. Sunglasses are strongly recommended for daytime flights.
Yes. Government-issued photo ID is required for every passenger, including children. Passport, driver's license or national ID card are all accepted. Without ID, the operator can refuse boarding — no refund.
Yes, with some operators. Zip Aviation offers a $30–$45 photo package taken from a cabin-mounted camera, available at check-in or after the flight. HeliNY and Charm Aviation do not include a photo service — bring your own phone or camera. FlyNYON is the only operator with a dedicated photographer flying along.
