Why HeliNY uses Linden as a second base
Linden Municipal Airport sits 20 miles south-west of Manhattan in central New Jersey, just off the New Jersey Turnpike. It is HeliNY's second operating base and the departure point for tours that the Downtown Manhattan Heliport cannot host — sunset and night flights that need long evening slots, fall foliage charters that reach into the Hudson Valley, and any tour scheduled on a Sunday when JRB is closed. The trade-off is the drive: budget 45 to 60 minutes from Midtown by car (no direct public transit). What you save: the $40 per-person heliport fee, parking costs, and the JRB security queue. The longer Linden runway also means HeliNY can fly the heavier Bell 407GXi from here for longer routes that would not fit JRB's slot timing.
